Dan Phillips
Dan is a board member for numerous software technology startups and board advisor for Hack.Diversity. Dan’s most recent operational role was as Co-Founder, CEO, and Chairman of CloudHealth Technologies, a cloud management software company acquired by VMware in 2018. Prior to CloudHealth, Dan spent 25+ years as an executive in 4 venture capital backed technology startups of which two achieved successful initial public offerings on NASDAQ and two were acquired by Dell/EMC. Dan also spent 4 years founding and growing the Entrepreneurship Center at the University of Massachusetts Boston, bringing entrepreneurship and workforce development to our local, urban, diverse, and public university. He has been a UMB scholarship donor since 1994.
Impact
Founded by Dan Phillips, the Entrepreneurship & Diversity Scholarship encourages students from diverse backgrounds who are passionate about pursuing careers in the startup and growth technology ecosystem of Massachusetts. The program is open to sophomores and beyond from any major who desire to work in the technology sector, and potentially start their own company someday. In addition to a scholarship, the program includes a mentorship opportunity with Dan Phillips or another appropriate mentor in the technology sector, if desired.
